    马莉沙（Lisa Mar，1991): Finding my roots in China changed my life.
    中国的寻根之旅改变了我的一生。

    黄淑英 (Georgette Wong，1992): The trip to my village was incredible. I did not know what to expect when I got there. I felt very emotional as we arrived at the village, seeing how different my life would have been, had I been born there.
    此次家乡之行实在太神奇了。当我踏上家乡土地的一刹那，我激动得不知所措，假如我就在那儿出生，眼前的一草一木都足以改变我的一生。

    谭咏恩(Tina Tom，1993): In many ways, this trip was not so much about finding my roots as it was about making sure that my relationship with my family take roots.
    许多方面表明，本次旅程不仅仅给了我寻根的机会，更重要的是它使我和我的家族的关系深深地扎下了根。

     李伟贤(Jeffrey Ow， 1993):  China wasn, t as frightening and alien as I thoug ht it would be .They saw me as "overseas Chinese" and not a foreigner. Although I was culturally different, I was accepted. At the village, I met the matchmaker who matched my grandfather and grandmother and felt a pang of sadness, realizing the matchmaker survived longer than the match, as my grandmother had died a year earlier.
    以前脑海中的中国既令人望而生畏又脱离世界潮流，事实上却并非如此。他们视我为"海外华人"而非外国人，虽然我们之间有着巨大的文化差异，但他们还是接受了我。在家乡，我遇到了当年撮合我祖父母的媒人，一时不禁黯然神伤，她比她撮合的那段姻缘活得要长久，我的祖母一年前便已离开了人间。

   刘菲莉(Phylis Wang ，1994):  One year ago, I never imagined I would know so much about my family history. Searching for my family roots not only taught me a lot about my ancestry but enabled me to better understand myself as well.
    仅仅一年前，我对我的家族史还几乎一无所知。家乡的寻根之旅不仅使我对先辈有了较全面的了解，而且给了我一个更好的洞悉自我的良机。

    徐国植(Alexander Hsu ，1995): In the past, telling people I, m Chinese American was merely an adjective. Now I feel that when I say that I , m Chinese American, I know which part is Chinese and which part is American.
    过去 ，跟人家说我是华裔美国人，那不过是一个自己也说不清的概念。现在再跟人说我是华裔美国人，我就能告诉他，我身上哪些地方反映了华裔的身份，哪些地方表明我是个美国人。

    谢现昌(Robert Tse ，1996): When you are brought up to respect your eastern heritage you are aware of your parallel lives.To return to China to see that second life is an expereince which changes your perspexctive forever.You feel you are at the origin, the source of inspiration.
    东方文化让你肃然起敬，也让你意识到自己生命的双重含义。从美国回到中国追寻第二重含义的经历彻底改变了你的未来，你感到你到达了万物之源，灵感不断涌现。

    伍思茵(Rita Ng，1997)…also Miss Callformia 2000 :Roots gives you a sense of completion; of understanding that your life follows that path of many that have already come before you; of reflection that your exisitence in America is only a glimpse of your existence in the world.
    寻根带给你一种圆满的感觉，让你懂得你是在踏着先辈们的足迹前行，也折射出你在美国的生活不过是你整个生命中微不足道的一小部分而已。

    梁志辉(Evan leong ，1997): I may not know all the traditions or customs of my culture. I may not speak a word of my native tongue, yet I do know that I am and always will be Chinese.
    虽然我对中国的传统和习俗几乎一无所知，虽然我不会说片言只语的汉语，我却深深懂得我现在是、而且永远是一个中国人。

    邓川山(Michael Ong ，1997): The trip to China helped put things into perspective. China is rapidly changing, especially the Peart River Delta region. While we had the opportunity to connect with our past, the changes in China also serve as a reminder that the present and future are what you make of it. Hopefully, the past will serve as a guide in our future.
    中国之行有助于认识事物的发展趋势。中国，尤其是珠江三角洲地区，正在发生翻天覆地的变化。回顾我们的过去,中国的巨变提醒我们，建设现在和创造未来的人正是你自己。但愿历史能成为我们未来的导航器。

    梁裕力(Eric Norberg， 1998): A young girl passed by me with a shirt loudly saying "remember your roots." And that picture was taken by my heart.
    一个小女孩从我身边走过，声音响亮地说:"记住你的根"，此情此景我将铭记一生。

    朱永泉(Kevin Gee，1998)…now teaching English in Guangzhou: I joined the In Search of Roots program to seek out a stronger understanding of my family history…it is a history that I had feared fufure generations of my family would forget. I now realize that the work I have started through Roots is just a beginning. The search for my family history and identity as a Chinese American is a continual process.
    我希望通过参加寻根之旅加深对家族史的认识，我一直担心我们家族的后代会有朝一日忘记这段历史。我意识到寻根活动还只不过是一个开始，追寻家族史、探究华裔美国人的根源是一个长期不断的过程。

    陈苏艳(Candace chin，1999): The In search of Roots program is phenomenal. As a result of participating. I now understand the beginnings of my identity in the United States and moreover I am only starting to realize how culturally,ancesrtally, spirituaily, and individually rooted I am in China.
    寻根活动的成效是显著的。通过参加这一活动， 我终于弄懂了我是怎样既是中国人却又成为美国人的。这次活动还使我逐渐意识到，无论从文化上、血缘上、精神上还是个人特征上，我在中国扎下的根都是那么深那么长。

    胡文慧(Stacey Woo， 1999): The R oots program was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I, ll never forget our time in which my great-great grandfather lived five generations ago. Through the program, I began a joumey to reconnect my family history and Chinese heritage, and in doing so, learn more about my own identity.
    寻根之行是一次一生难得一遇的经历。我不会忘记在家乡渡过的那段时光，不会忘记我的高曾祖父住过的那所老房子，不会忘记我曾在那儿驻足、徘徊。通过这次旅程，我开始把自己的家史和中国传统文化重新衔接起来，由此，我对自己的身世有了更深刻的认识。

    毕美华(Susan Brim ，1999): Paying my respects to my great grandfather at his grave was one of the most moving experiences of my life. I feel content now, like I have fulfilled some promise that I didn,t even know I had made.
    到曾祖父的坟前拜祭是我所经历过的最感动的事情之一。现在我感到充实多了，就像实践了连自己也不知道在什么时候许过的诺言一样。

    关幼林(Lumsden Quan ，1999):Just when I thought I was a tiny flower, someone picked me, I then realized I was a tree with long roots.
    正当我以为自己是一朵随风飘落的小花时，有人把我拾了起来，这时我才发现自己是一棵扎根深广的树。

    周伟明(Eric Joe， 2000): Roots has given me a deeper appreciation for the strength vision, and perseverance of my ancestors to know America held the promise of a better life for their future generations. Their tremendous courage and sacrifices have given me every opportunity I have today.
    为了给后代创造更好的生活条件， 我的祖辈远赴美国创业，通过寻根之旅，我被他们身上所体现出的坚强的意志、敏锐的触觉和非人的毅力所深深敬服。我所拥有的一切，正是来自于他们的莫大勇气和巨大的牺牲。

    朱兴初(Oscar Gee ，2000): I begin to understand what the Chinese means in Chinese American a little more. Bringing it back to the roots allows for my present being to influence my future ones.
    我开始理解中国血统对华裔美国人的意义，对根的认识，将会给我的未来带来深刻的影响。

    李振匡(Korey Lee， 2000): My identity is defined by my being both Chinese and American. The roots program brought me to realiztions and discoveries about myself and reinforced my pride in being Chinese American. The journey to China helped me realize and discover more of my identity, what I was, what I am, and what I will be. The road of self-discovery is a lifetime experience and Roots was the first mile.
    我的身世包含中国人和美国人双重意义。寻根之旅给了我实现自我和发现自我的机会，增强了我作为美籍华人的自豪感。中国之行使我对自己的身世，过去怎样，现在如何，将来又会是怎样，有了新的认识和新的发现。这条发现自我的路是相伴终生的，寻根之旅只是它的第一步。

    马一平(Robert Mar，2000): travelling throughout southern China, seeing the lifestyles of the people who live there, and visiting the bi rthplaces of my parents allowed me to see the origin of my Chinese ethnicity in the context of China, as it used to be when my ancestors lived there, and in the way China exists today, moving toward modernization and becoming a member of the global community.
    周游华南各地，亲历那儿的人们的生活，参观父母的出生地，这一切都使我有机会找到自己作为中国人的自豪感的根源，因为呈现在我眼前的，既有千百年前我的祖先生活过的中国，也有逐步迈向现代化，逐步成为地球村中重要一员的当代中国。

    方智涛(Wilson Woo ，2000): Roots program is awesome. The program gives an opportunity to view the world in one, s own eye. What I was looking for from the program was not only my identity, but meaning in life…how my family ties affect my life. True meaning is to feel alive in one,s life.
    寻根活动让人肃然起敬 ，它给了我们用自己的双眼去观察世界的机会。我从这个活动中要追寻的，不仅是我的身世，还有生命的意义和我的家族纽带对我的生活的影响。真正的意义是去感受生命的活力。

    伍思明(Roland Ng， 2000): Although I have never visited this land before, upon seeing an elementary school picture of myself in my great-grandmother, s village. I knew my Roots jouney had brought me home.
    虽然我从未踏足过那片土地，但当我看自己站在曾祖母故乡的小学前的照片时，我就意识到寻根之旅的确把我带回了家。

    陈欢乐(Irix Chin， 2000): The Roots learning curve is exponential. I learned more about myself and the world during my three weeks in China than I learned during a year spent at home.
    从寻根之旅中所学到的东西呈几何级数递增。在中国三周里所获得的对自己和世界的认识，比起我在美国家中钻研一年所获得的还要多。
