The first Lingnan Arts & Crafts Exhibition, jointly hosted by Guangdong Chinese Cultural Promotion Society, Guangdong Arts & Crafts Association and Guangzhou Arts & Crafts Association, opens today (November 3rd) at the exhibition hall of Er'sha Island. More than one thousand arts and crafts will be presented at the exhibition that lasts for one month.

All the arts and crafts are representative works from masters, including 19 state-level masters and two who won Lifetime Achievement Award (a national prize to award China's famous masters of arts and crafts). The works of Lingnan characteristics include Guangzhou Color Porcelains, Chaozhou Color Porcelains, ivory sculptures, jade sculptures, wood sculpture, Shiwan ceramics, Duanyan inkstones, Guangzhou embroidery, Chaozhou embroidery and reproduction furniture of styles in Ming and Qing dynasties. Most of them are highly appreciated by collectors.

Jade sculptures from Guangzhou, Jieyang and Sihui - three major sources of jade sculpture production - will be the focus of attention at the exhibition.

Besides, this exhibition will see some valuable arts and crafts that have been recovered or repaired recently, such as a crystalline ceramic which was famous in Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279) and has been unearthed recently in Chaozhou of Guangdong Province.
